Join Anna on Clean Up Australia Day

Posted February 22, 2013

Federal Member for Chisholm, Anna Burke, is encouraging members of the community to join her on Sunday March 3, to help clean up Mount Waverley and Clean Up Australia.

Anna and members of the local community will be cleaning up the neighbourhood around Jordanville Train Station and Salisbury Reserve in Mount Waverely between 10am and 2pm on Sunday 3 March.

"Every year I'm joined by dedicated members of the community who care about the environment and I'm looking forward to doing it again this year," Ms Burke said.

"Our environment is fragile and constantly under pressure from waste and carbon pollution. It's a problem that feels massive but is something that every one of us can have a big impact on through our own behaviour.

"Clean Up Australia Day is an easy and practical way to not only improve our local environment but to raise awareness about the harmful effect rubbish has on the ecosystem.

"I encourage everyone to get involved in Clean Up Australia Day and if you'd like more details please call my office on 9802 0566.

"If you can't to join me in Mount Waverley, there are plenty of local groups out and about on the day, so it isn't hard to find one close to home," Ms Burke said.
